St. Paul's School, Garden City, New York (historic preservation, adaptive reuse)
Threatened with demolition, this impressively ornamented 1879 former Episcopal boarding school was listed in 2003 as one of "Seven to Save" by the Preservation League of New York State. A citizens' Committee to Save Saint Paul's hired STA to prepare a comprehensive assessment of different adaptive reuse options for the building, an estimate of project costs, identification of prospective funding resources and a recommended implementation plan. Combining civic, non-profit cultural and private residential functions, the projected scenarios still preserve the campus open space for park use.
