Warburton Avenue Affordable Housing, Hastings-on-Hudson, New York (new construction, housing) Fourteen one and two bedroom units, many with Hudson River views, house income-eligible residents on a major bus line and within walking distance of center village and the Metro North station. Slipped into a multi-family mixed use community and employing "green" materials and geo-exchange heating and cooling, the project embodies principles of new urbanism and sustainable design. Parking is carved into the hillside; buildings are shaped to preserve neighbors' views and present residential scale facades along the sidewalk, and a small landscaped park at the corner bus stop serves residents and neighbors 2009 Honor Award for Architectural Excellence in Downtown Revitalization, Westchester/Mid-Hudson Chapter of the American Institute of Architects.
