filler | A former Capuchin Monastery, this 74,000 square foot complex overlooks the Hudson from a ten-acre site in Garrison, New York. Stephen Tilly, Architect helped guide its conversion into a Buddhist spiritual retreat fostering the application of contemplative disciplines to 21st century issues. The program includes modest guest sleeping quarters, shared bathrooms, a central kitchen and dining facilities, lecture and activity rooms, recreational facilities, a library and administrative offices. The monastery building is handicapped accessible and refurbished to conform to current codes. Improvements incorporate “green” technologies and building materials such as passive ventilation and bamboo. |
