Rooftop river view
In the mid nineteenth century, Frederick Rondel painted “Lovat” in its perch overlooking the woods, fields and river at Hastings-on-Hudson. Named for the Fraser clan’s ancestral home in the Scottish highlands, Lovat was completed in 1855. It is now undergoing restoration for a private owner. While much of the original fabric has deteriorated and some has failed, the structure has been spared radical remodeling over its near 150 years. Stephen Tilly, Architect is directing a phased approach to the restoration.
