Elizabeth Martin, landscape designer and activity programmer, left a career as choreographer to work as a writer, arts consultant and planner on a public space project in Washington, D.C. Her arts-grounded focus on the uses of space and strong environmental ethic add value to award-winning architectural and planning work at STA. Her activities programming for public venues coordinates architectural design with operational and interpretive goals. She has completed site and garden designs for public and institutional properties as well as private residences. Besides creating contemporary landscapes, roof gardens and rain gardens, she has devised land-use guidelines for historic districts and designed period appropriate landscapes for historic houses including restoration and enhancement of a six pond modernist ravine garden for a mid-twentieth century house. She graduated from Radcliffe College and trained in gardening and landscape design at the New York Botanical Garden.
